First Day of School

The girls had a great first day back at school. Josephine told me her day was "really cool." Just realised I haven't taken a photo of Charlie in his new uniform - will fix that asap!

Thoughts on camping

In many ways, camping is like childbirth. Before it happens, it looms large on the calendar, and there is a long list of things that must be done. Both require several years in between, so you can forget how uncomfortable the experience was last time. Both usually involve a difficult night that seems to go on forever. And both are exhilarating, memorable, and totally worth it!

Camping

We had a great camping trip to Shakespear Regional Park. It is a beautiful spot at the end of a peninsula about 45 minutes north of home. It was pretty windy, and after we had set up our tent and unpacked we realised we had chosen a spot in a natural wind tunnel. We un-pitched (can't think of the word I need) the tent and moved to a much better spot, sheltered on 3 sides. Finally comfortable, we got down to the serious business of midnight feasting (which in this case was more a case of sunset feasting, as we couldn't wait).

Happy 5th Birthday, Josephine!

It was a wonderful day. Josie had brekky in bed, opened her presents (including a mermaid with a flashing tail, which lights up the bathwater) and headed off to kindy. The moment she had been anticipating for months finally arrived when she got to wear a crown and a cape and sit in the birthday chair. It was everything she had dreamed. We had a cake that evening and then on Saturday she took two friends to Chipmunks for a play. Happy Birthday, beautiful girl!
